Qual o valor da abelha colhendo pólen, do Sol coroando a assustadora madrugada, da onda que quebra uma única vez na areia, senão sua efemeridade singular?

Tenho impressão de que Ferreirinha já havia intuído isto.
Outro dia, jogando dominó. A contar causos, como o do brotinho de sessenta e cinco anos que só tem um dente, a quem ele prestava assistência regular, “só na fricção”. Chamando Dona Sônia, Xiquinha, Zequinha... porque os nomes não importam.
Ontem ali, deitado, como quem dorme. Personagem principal da festa funesta.
A rua de terra. Nenhumas árvores. O imenso, verde e baldio terreno em frente. Essa inarrável multidão amontoada sob o aracajuano sol. Uma ruma de táxis estacionados. As beatas entoando o lamento lúgubre. Matizes de um trópico triste. Adiante, uma partida de futebol, vale notar a irônica cor dos times: os vermelho-e-branco contra os branco-e-vermelho.
Pouco antes da saída do féretro, pára na porta uma velha Belina marrom. A porta de trás aberta, deixando à vista um botijão de gás aquecendo o óleo da fritura; as caixas de som no teto anunciavam: “uma bateria de carro velha vale cinco churros, um ventilador velho vale três churros, um motor de geladeira vale quatro churros, um chuveiro elétrico vale dois churros, um ferro de passar...”
Onde a alma de Ferreirinha estivesse, estava rindo: “tô furando certinho?”
Passado o susto, a dor estampada nas lágrimas de Marcinha, de Dona Nida, dos amigos, passada minha descrença no improvável, que foi abatida quando olhei sob o vidro do ataúde:

Se é que ainda é possível acrescentar alguma coisa ao texto impecável do Vespa, eu diria que Ferreirinha nos trazia alegria, diversão permanente. E, mais do que isso, vivia intensamente o xadrez político-eleitoral: torcia, analisava e refletia, nos dava boletins da campanha, do que se comentava nas cidades do interior, nas ruas, repetia os comentários que ouvia de amigos e anônimos. Quando ele se integrou à equipe, depois de já iniciada a partida, eu bem disse a ele próprio: era o que estava faltando.
Creio que pra fazer justiça à memória de Ferreirinha, temos que rir, brincar, mas sobretudo, lutar até o fim pra ganhar essa eleição. Pois ele mesmo me dizia numa das últimas vezes em que fomos para casa: "eu até podia estar do lado de lá, se eu fosse pedir, mas eu queria mesmo era estar aqui, com Déda, com o PT!" Tenha certeza que estará pra sempre, companheiro, pelo menos no coração de toda essa "gente que faz um governador".
